BETHANY, W.Va. (January 22) – A shooting slump in the second and third quarters sank the Waynesburg University women's basketball team at the Yellow Jackets fell 63-50 at Bethany on Wednesday evening.
Waynesburg falls to 9-8 on the season and 4-8 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) league play. Bethany rises to 9-8, 6-6 PAC and secures a season sweep over Waynesburg.
The Jackets led 12-6 and carried a 12-9 lead into the second quarter. The Bison outscored Waynesburg 35-15 over the second and third quarters to lead 44-27 heading into the fourth. The Jackets outscored Bethany 23-19 in the final period but were unable to trim the margin to single digits over the final 10 minutes of regulation.
Waynesburg led by as many as eight (12-4) in the opening seven minutes before an 11-0 Bethany run put the hosts in front. The lead changed hands twice in the second quarter before the Bison went ahead for good. Waynesburg shot 5-for-30 (16.7 percent) over the second and third quarters while Bethany scored 20 points in the second and 15 in the third.
Kalista Friday (Woodsfield, Ohio / Monroe Central) was the only Jacket to finish in double figures as she had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. 
Kara McFadden (Painesville, Ohio / Fairport Harding) had nine points off the Waynesburg bench and 
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) was the game's leading rebounder with 12 boards.
Waynesburg takes on Geneva back in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Saturday.
