JACKETS' BALANCED OFFENSE BESTS THIEL
Waynesburg played spoiler Saturday in a dominant 45-14 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Thiel during the Tomcats' Homecoming game. Junior running back
Carson Shriver found the enzone for the Jackets, but Thiel used a short field to get on the board and tie the game at 7-7 through the first quarter. Special teams errors by the Tomcats helped Waynesburg explode for 17 unanswered points and go into the half with a 24-7 lead. After Shriver's third trip to paydirt for the day, Thiel answered with their final touchdown. Sophomore quarterback
Luke Hudson threw for the Jackets' final two touchdowns of the game.
BLOWNÂ AWAY BY THE GOLDEN TORNADOES
Allegheny travels to John F. Wiley Stadium looking for its first road victory of 2025. The Gators' most recent setback came by a 28-16 final score at Geneva on Saturday. Allegheny struck first with a six-play, 84-yard touchdown drive. However, the Allegheny offense was figured out by the Golden Tornado defense as Geneva, using their new air raid offense, put up four unanswered passing touchdowns through the second and third quarters to take control. Allegheny pushed for a comeback with a touchdown and a safety late, but couldn't complete the rally.
THUNDER AND LIGHTNING
Carson Shriver enjoyed a breakout performance last week, totalling 161 yards and three touchdowns off 25 carries in a 45-14 victory over Thiel. The junior has 239 rushing yards and three scores this season, while speedy senior back
Zayne Cawley has notched 302 rushing yards and five scores to power the best rushing attack in the PAC in terms of rushing yards (627) and rushing touchdowns (9).
GAMEPLAN FOR THE GATORS
The Gators are led offensively by the conference's leading rusher, Dominic Berarducci, who has racked up 330 rushing yards and five total touchdowns after three games. The defense is headed by senior linebacker Coltin Colucci who has totalled 32 tackles on the season and leads the team with four quarterback hurries. Colucci earned honorable mention all-conference accolades last fall.
OFFENSE OPENING UP
The Waynesburg offense has began to find it's stride through the air and on the ground, having outscored the opposition 80-41 over the last two games. The passing game has been led by sophomore
Luke Hudson, who has missed just four attempts in his last two games. He ranks 14th in the nation and tops in the conference in completion percentage (72.3%). Cawley and Shriver have handled the load on the ground. Their efforts have earned Waynesburg top-five spots in the PAC for rushing touchdowns, total rushing yards, rushing yards per game and yards per carry.
A START FOR THE AGES
With the victory over Thiel, Waynesburg has moved to 2-0 to begin PAC play. The last time the Jackets managed to hit this mark was in 2012. That same season the Jackets went 10-1 overall, earned a share of the PAC title and won the ECAC south West Bowl Game. It was the program's first double-digit win season since 1966, when Waynesburg won the NAIA National Championship.
