WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team dropped its season finale to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Grove City 4-0. The loss snapped a six-game win streak and saddled the Jackets with their first loss since Sept. 10.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets (14-2-2, 8-1-2) had five shots (two SOG) and allowed one goal to the Wolverines (11-4-2, 10-0-1). The visitors tallied the eventual game winner late in the 37
th minute.
Grove City sealed the victory with scores in the 68
th, 87
th and 89
th minutes.
Sophomore forward
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) tallied four shots (one SOG) to pace the Jacket offense. Senior midfielder
Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) provided four of her own (one SOG), while freshman midfielder
Jessi Jury (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) had two shots (one SOG) for the host squad.
Junior goalkeeper
Lex Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) provided nine saves for the Orange and Black.
Waynesburg returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 5, as the second seed in the semifinal round of the PAC playoffs. The opponent and start time have yet to be determined.
