Women's soccer scores PAC win over Thiel

Yellow Jackets down Tomcats 11-0

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (October 8) - The Waynesburg University women's soccer team picked up an 11-0 win over Thiel in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Wednesday.
 
Senior midfielder Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton), junior forward Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom), and freshman forward Kya Huggins (Fairview, W.Va. / North Marion) tallied two goals apiece in the win. Waynesburg's (9-1-2, 3-0-2) latest offensive output gives the team 58 goals this season, which is the most for a Jacket squad since at least the 2000 season.
 
Mittendorf led the Jackets with two goals in the first half, which came in the third and 39th minutes. Sophomore forward Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) tallied a goal in the fourth minute. Mohrbacher scored her first goal in the sixth minute. Freshman midfielder Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian) scored in the 37th minute and sophomore forward Alex Delaney (Sturgeon, Pa. / South Fayette High School) rounded out the first half with a goal in the 44th minute.
 
The Jackets led the Tomcats (0-11, 0-5) 6-0 after the first half.
 
Freshman midfielder Ryan White (Lewisburg, W.Va. / Greenbrier East) tallied a goal in the 57th minute to open the second-half scoring. Huggins scored her goals in the 59th and 70th minutes, and junior midfielder Hailey Gilchrest (Hanover, Va. / Hanover) found the net in the 64th minute. Mohrbacher scored her second of the game in the 66th minute.
 
The Jackets outshot the Tomcats 57-3 (33-2 SOG) and had 10 of the game's 11 corner kicks on the overall day.
 
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when it hosts PAC rival Saint Vincent for senior day. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
