Waynesburg (2-4) started off hot, going on a 9-0 run through the first three minutes of the game. Hood (2-3) rebounded to cut the lead to 18-15 at the end of the quarter.
After the Blazers made it a one-point game early in the second period, the Yellow Jackets had the answer as senior
Kalista Friday (Woodsfield, Ohio / Monroe Central) put the team on her back, scoring 12 of Waynesburg's 21 points in the quarter to take a 39-30 advantage into the locker room.
The Yellow Jackets kept things rolling in the third quarter as they outscored the Blazers 23-10, capitalizing on five turnovers to build the lead to 62-40 entering the final quarter. The Jackets never allowed the opposition to make a run at a comeback by outscoring Hood 24-14 in the fourth quarter to complete the victory.
Friday led the Yellow Jackets in scoring for a third-straight game with a season-high 25 points on a perfect 9-for-9 shooting from the floor. She also collected a game-high four steals.
Miller chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and two steals to the winning effort. Junior
Kara McFadden (Painesville, Ohio / Fairport Harding) checked in with 10 points, four assists and four rebounds. Wesolowski contributed nine points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Waynesburg had perhaps its best night of the season on the glass, as it outpaced Hood 41-28 in rebounding.
The Yellow Jackets return to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in their first Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup against Franciscan at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
