Jackets come up just short of PAC title against Grove City

Waynesburg falls 1-0 to Wolverines in championship final

GROVE CITY, Pa (Nov. 5) – The Waynesburg women's soccer team traveled to Grove City to take on the top-seeded Wolverines in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship. The Yellow Jackets gave the two-time defending champions a fight, but the host squad did just enough to complete the three-peat with a 1-0 win.

The Wolverines (13-4-2) tallied the only goal of the contest in the 14th minute. The Yellow Jackets (15-3-2) had six shots in the first half, with five being on goal. Senior midfielder Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) had two of the shots on goal to lead the Jackets.

In the second half, the Jackets had five more shots on goal and performed well against the vaunted Grove City defense throughout the day. Unfortunately, the visiting squad was unable to cash in a game-tying opportunity.

Junior goalkeeper Lex Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) provided 10 saves in the game to close out a tremendous season in net.

The Yellow Jackets were outshot by the Wolverines 28-15 in the game, with the Jackets only having one corner kick. The Jackets had 10 shots on goal, with sophomore forward Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) and junior forward Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) having two each and Mittendorf led the Jackets with three shots on goal.

After the conclusion of the title tilt, Greenlief and freshman Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian) were named to the 2025 PAC All-Tournament Team.
