Men's wrestling has three place at ONU Invitational

ADA, Ohio (Dec. 6) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team returned to competition on Saturday with a trip to the Ohio Northern Invitational. The Jackets saw three of their own place in the top eight of their respective weight classes.
 
Junior Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) suffered a hard-fought 5-4 loss to the eventual champion at 174 to open his day. He rebounded with five-straight wins to finish a team-high third place. He logged two major decisions and a technical fall during the run.
 
Junior Austin Fleming (Parkersburg, W.Va. / Parkersburg) came flying out of the gate at heavyweight with a first-period pin, a major decision and a7-3 decision to reach the semifinals. He nearly upset the top seed to earn a spot in the finals, but fell 4-2 to drop into consolations. He suffered another heart-breaking defeat, this time by a 1-0 final to the two seed, that dropped him into the fifth-place bout, which was not contested.
 
Sophomore AJ Tomaino (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) became the Jackets' third place winner by placing seventh at 184 pounds. He posted a 3-2 day with two pins and thrilling 15-12 upset win in sudden victory over the fourth seed.
 
Waynesburg finished in 11th place out of 13 teams with 39.5 points. The host Polar Bears took the team title.
 
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 17, with a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road trip to Hiram. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
