LATROBE, Pa. (March 15) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team began its spring season and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play at Saint Vincent on Saturday.
The Bearcats prevailed 7-0 to move to 10-1 on the season and 1-0 in PAC play. The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-3, 0-1 PAC.
Saint Vincent won all three doubles matchups to secure the day's first point.
Ethan Clawson (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) and
Sam Norris (Natrona Heights, Pa. / Highlands) played the tightest doubles match with a 6-4 setback at the top flight.
Waynesburg won at least one game in four singles flights with
Andres Rojas (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Brashear) and
Tyler Gordon (Strongsville, Ohio / OHDELA) winning multiple games at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. However, the Bearcats won all six singles matchups in two sets to secure the 7-0 victory.
The Jackets host Pitt-Greensburg next Saturday at noon.
