WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 18) – The Waynesburg University softball team earned a pair of run-rule victories in a home Tuesday doubleheader. The Jackets prevailed 14-1 and 19-0, both in five innings.
Waynesburg moves to 13-2 on the season while Greater Allegheny starts 0-2.
Game 1 – Waynesburg 14, Penn State Greater Allegheny 1 (5 Innings)
Waynesburg scored six runs in the first, three in the third and five in the fourth en route to a run-rule victory in the opening game. Seven different players notched a hit and another eight reached safely via walk.
Breanna Rice (Morgantown, W.Va. / Morgantown) and
Rylee Rohbeck (Oakdale, Pa. / South Fayette) both doubled and drove in two runs. Rohbeck and Camdyn Kawlczyk (Apollo, Pa. / Apollo-Ridge) each had two hits.
Katelynn Britenbaugh (Glenshaw, Pa. / Shaler),
Kassidy Trimble (Parkersburg, W.Va. / Parkersburg South) and
Maddisyn Best (Monongahela, Pa. / Elizabeth Forward) each scored twice.
Pressley Meadows (Annapolis, Ohio / Edison) collected a five-inning complete game win. She struck out nine while allowing one run on three hits.
Game 2 – Waynesburg 19, Penn State Greater Allegheny 0 (5 innings)
Waynesburg built a 4-0 lead in the second inning before recording its first hit, a
Kaitlyn Jagielski (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) two-run single.
Graeson Grubbs (Volant, Pa. / Wilmington) tripled in Jagielski to give the Jackets a 7-0 edge heading into the third.
Kaitlyn Sullivan (Monaca, Pa. / Central Valley) drove a ball into the right-center field gap and legged out an inside the park home run in the third. Best scored on the play as the Jacket lead grew to 9-0.

Brynn Charnesky (Scottdale, Pa. / Southmoreland), Best, Rohbeck and
Jamie Noonan (Penn Hills, Pa. / St. Joseph) each had RBI singles ina 10-run fourth inning as the Jackets secured a 19-0 run-rule victory.
Madison Baker (Kittanning, Pa. / Armstrong) earned her first collegiate victory with a five-inning, three-hit shutout. She walked none and struck out seven in the win.
Grubbs went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs bated in and a run scored. Sullivan had a home run, three RBI and three runs scored. Bets and Rohbeck each scored three times.
The Jackets totaled 12 hits and 11 walks in the win.
The Jackets begin Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Friday with a home doubleheader against Washington & Jefferson. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
