WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 16) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team concluded its 2024-25 season on Wednesday evening with a 7-0 home loss to Saint Vincent at the Bechtle Family Tennis Facility.
The match marked the final match of the year for the Yellow Jackets (2-12) and the Bearcats (18-4). Saint Vincent set a program record for single-season wins with the victory.
The Bearcats took the doubles point by only dropping two games in the opening flights. At No. 1 doubles,
Julia Luzar (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) and
Julia Umshares (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) dropped a 6-1 decision. The same margin occurred at No. 3 doubles, where
Alli Bailey (Mount Pleasant, Pa. / Mount Pleasant) and
Aubrey Burns (Kittanning, Pa. / Armstrong) also fell 6-1.
In singles play, Luzar and Umshares each battled to earn a game in the second sets of each of their matches at first and second singles. Burns picked up Waynesburg's lone first-set game at No. 6 singles before falling 6-1, 6-0.
