The Jackets are still looking for the first mark in the win collum after a 52-19 loss to non-conference opponent Dickinson. The Red Devils would score in their first four drives and hold Waynesburg to one score to lead 28-7 at half. The Jackets looked to spark a comeback after a touchdown to open the second half would bring the score within 15 points, but Dickinson responded with a 94 yard kickoff return touchdown. Giovanni Cipoletti caught his first career touchdown on a 9 yard strike to end regulation.
BREAKING THE STREAK
Hiram snapped a 13 game losing streak last Saturday with a non-conference victory against Oberlin. The Terriers would control the first half, scoring 30 points while holding the Yeoman to only one touchdown and forcing three interceptions to lead 30-7. Hiram continued the assault throughout the rest of the game, scoring 28 points on offense while containing Oberlin to two scores to coast to a 58-21 win. Junior Quarterback Sean Tejeda led the way completing 23 passes for 319 yards and five touchdowns on the day.
GIVING A WARM WELCOME
This week's match up features the return of Hiram to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), the Terriers enter from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and was a previous member of the PAC from 1971-1989. Hiram had enjoyed its best season in football in 1982 with a 6-1 conference record and their only first place finish in the conference.
TAKING ON THE TERRIERS
Hiram enters this contest with last weeks PAC offensive player of the week Sean Tejeda who currently leads the conference with seven passing touchdowns and is second with 597 passing yards. His top target of the season has been Kevin Dycks who hauled in five catches for 110 yards and two scores last week against Oberlin. Defensively the Terriers are led by sophomore defensive end Janardo Taylor, Taylor currently leads the PAC in Tackles for loss (4.5) and sacks (3) after a 3.5 TFL and two sack performance last week. Junior defensive back Brice Criggall is currently tied for first in the conference for interceptions with two.
CAWLEY WITH THE CARRY
Senior running back
Zayne Cawley was the focal point of the offense in last weeks match up against Dickinson, the Jacket back totaled 17 carries for 60 yards and two scores last week while adding another 30 yards in the air off of three receptions. Cawley earned First-team all conference honors while leading the PAC with 1,225 rushing yards and picking up nine rushing scores.
WILLING A WIN IN WILEY?
Waynesburg hosts Hiram for the first conference game of the 2025 season where the Jackets are looking for their first victory of the season while the Terriers are on the hunt for the first conference win in 10 games. The last time Waynesburg opened the conference slate with a win was September 17, 2022Â against Geneva. The Jackets won 37-30 with a late blocked punt by Austin Derr resulting in a safety sealing the game.
