LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 29) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling traveled to Saint Vincent on Thursday for a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. Forfeits doomed the Yellow Jackets' chances at a team victory, but junior Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) won the marquee bout of the night.

The Bearcats (4-2, 3-1) took a 4-0 lead thanks to a major decision at 125 pounds and forfeits from 133 to 165 pounds sealed their victory.

However, the crowd at the Robert S. Carey Center still had plenty to hold its attention when Orbin squared off with another two-time PAC champion in Saint Vincent junior Chase Brandebura at 174 pounds.

The first two periods featured multiple extended scrambles with no points coming from them. Early in the third, the score was tied at 1-1 following a release for each grappler. As the two once again locked up in a scramble Orbin was finally able to gain the upper hand and not only picked up the bout's first takedown, but also put Brandebura to his back for four near-fall points. Those seven points made the difference in a 9-2 decision victory.

Orbin is now 21-2 overall on the season and 10-0 in dual competition. His current win streak sits at 14 bouts.

Saint Vincent closed out the win by taking the final three weights of the night.

The Jackets (1-9, 0-4) are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 4, when they face Thiel in their final dual match of the season. Start time for the PAC clash is scheduled for 7 p.m.
