WASHINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 3) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team opened the 2026 portion of its schedule at the Jeff Breese Invitational, which was hosted by Washington & Jefferson on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets were led by a trio of top three finishes, including junior
Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston), who took home the title at 174 pounds.
Orbin ran his current winning streak to nine-straight matches by going 3-0 on the day. He started his run to his latest championship with a pin in 2:40 over Arcadia's Jagger Gray. The defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion at 174 routed the top seed, Bethany's Jonathan Braun, by 13-2 major decision to reach the finals. Orbin made short work of another PAC opponent, W&J's John Starusko, by pinning him in 2:15.
Waynesburg's other finalist on the day was junior heavyweight
Austin Fleming (Parkersburg, W.Va. / Parkersburg), who reached the championship tilt with an 8-1 decision over West Virginia Tech's Max Underwood and an 8-2 decision over Bethany's top-seeded Zach Kuneff. Fleming had to settle for silver after dropping the championship tilt to Arcadia's Logan Flynn.
The Jackets' third top three performer was sophomore
AJ Tomaino (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park), who claimed bronze at 184 pounds. Tomaino reached the semifinals by way of an injury default during a tightly contested match with Arcadia's James Taft. After dropping into consolations, Tomaino ended his day on a high note by pinning Bethany's Caleigh Moon in 2:56.
The Jackets finished fifth as a team in the five-school field. The host Presidents took home the team title.
Waynesburg returns to dual competition on Saturday, Jan. 10, when it competes in a tri-match at Wheeling University. The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to face a pair of Division II opponents in the host Cardinals and Davis & Elkins. Action is set to get underway at 6 p.m.
