KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 15) - The Waynesburg University women's soccer program was named as a recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Pinnacle Award for the 2025-26 academic year when the group announced the winners on Wednesday.
In its eighth year, the Team Pinnacle Award honors teams that have achieved a high level of fair play, educational excellence, and success on the pitch. In all, 37 teams were recognized, including 27 high school and 10 college programs.
To be considered for the award, teams must have received either the Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the High School or College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; achieved recognition in the classroom as a recipient of the High School or College Team Academic Award; and recorded a winning percentage of .750 or higher during the respective season.
On the field, Waynesburg broke its own program record for wins in a season with a 17-3-2 record (.818 winning percentage) in 2025. The Yellow Jackets reached the PAC Tournament Championship match and then won the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship with victories over Pitt-Greensburg and Keene State. It was the first recorded ECAC championship for women's soccer and the first ECAC title of any kind at Waynesburg since football won the 2012 ECAC Southwest Bowl.
Also on the field, the Jackets were one of just 45 teams, men or women, across all three divisions of the NCAA that received a 2025 United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. The accolade, which is tiered into Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze versions, recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season based on the number of cards accumulated divided by the number of games played (i.e., five cards divided by 20 games played is 0.25 or 25%, which qualifies for a Silver Award).
Waynesburg was one of 19 teams to receive a Bronze award, which is presented to a program that accumulated a percentage of cards ranking from 31 to 50%.
In the classroom, Waynesburg as a program achieved a 3.64 team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year to earn a United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award.
