GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Grove City on Saturday to face the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) North Division-leading Wolverines. An uncharacteristic cold streak from the field led to a rough start that the Yellow Jackets were unable to recover from, as the Wolverines picked up a 75-46 victory.
Grove City (15-8, 9-5) scored the first 13 points of the game, before Waynesburg (12-11, 8-6) finally picked up two points from junior
Mia Henkins (Morgantown, W.Va. / Morgantown) 6:45 into the contest. Grove City proceeded to score 11 of the final 12 points of the quarter and take a 24-3 lead into the second.
The host squad outscored the Jackets 17-12 in the second and led 41-15 at the break. The two teams played to a 14-14 draw in the third, before the Wolverines put the finishing touches on the victory.
Henkins led the Jackets with a team-high eight points, while seniors
Tori Wesolowski (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) and
Clara-Paige Miller (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) tied for the squad lead with six rebounds each. Wesolowski handed out a team-best three assists.
