Men's basketball travels to Saint Vincent for PAC contest

Jackets fall 92-53 to Bearcats

LATROBE, Pa. (Feb. 4) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Saint Vincent on Wednesday to face the Bearcats in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. The Yellow Jackets fell 92-53.

Waynesburg (6-14, 2-9) struggled early against Saint Vincent (13-7, 8-3) and fell behind 12-2 after roughly five minutes of play. The Bearcats continued to expand their advantage by scoring 12 of the next 19 points and growing the lead to 24-9.

By the time the first half came to a close, the Bearcats found themselves in front by a 50-26 score. Junior guard Jackson Rhodes (Christchurch, New Zealand / St. Andrews College) led the Jackets with eight points at the break.

Waynesburg looked to turn things around in the second half and tallied the first seven points of the period to cut its deficit down to a more manageable 17 (50-33). Unfortunately, the host team erased that run with a 7-0 spurt of its own that rebuild a 24-point advantage at 57-33.

Saint Vincent went on to outscore the Orange and Black 35-20 over the final 15 minutes to seal up the victory.

Junior Aiden Blake (Parkersburg, W.Va. / Parkersburg South) and senior Scott Bilovus (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) tallied a team-high nine points each to pace the Waynesburg offense. Rhodes and senior Jalen Goins (Morgantown, W.Va. / Morgantown) added eight points apiece to their teams' latest effort.

Freshman Preston Luzader (Farview, W.Va. / Clay-Battelle), who was making his first collegiate start, had his biggest impact on the glass, where his seven rebounds led the Jackets. Senior Casey Keesee (Tipp City, Ohio / Bethel) tied for the game lead with five assists.

Waynesburg returns home on Saturday, Feb. 7, to face Hiram for senior day. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
