BEREA, Ohio (Feb. 7) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University to compete in the 39
th annual John Summa Invitational on Saturday. Junior
Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) not only won the 174-pound bracket, but picked up his 100
th collegiate win the in the process.
Orbin started his run to the crown with a pin in 2:54 over Alfred State's Ronan Klug and followed that up with a gutsy 11-9 decision against Cole Porter of the host Yellow Jackets. He looked strong in the semis, where he shut out Eastern's Johnny Beckett to the tune of 10-0 major decision.
Orbin squared off with Case Western Reserve's Chase Crutchley in the title bout and after seven minutes of competition, he was able to score the deciding takedown in a 4-1 triumph.
Orbin is now 26-2 on the year and his current winning streak sits at 19 matches. The newest member of the 100-win club boasts a 101-23 mark as a Jacket.
Sophomore
AJ Tomaino (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) posted a 2-2 showing at 184 pounds for the Jackets. After losing his first match of the day, Tomaino blitzed Case Western Reserve's Thomas Trout with a pin in just 14 seconds. He followed that up with second-straight fall, this one coming in 1:11 over Brayden Kobylinski of Mount Union.
With the regular season complete, Waynesburg turns its attention to preparing for the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships, which are being hosted at Hiram on Saturday, Feb. 14. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
