NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (May 2) – The Waynesburg University softball team ended the 2026 season on Saturday during day two of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament. The Yellow Jackets fell 9-1 (5 innings) to Bethany.
The Bison (30-11), who wound up going 2-0 on the day and advancing to Monday's final day of the tournament, scored all the runs then needed with two in the bottom of the first inning. Their lead grew to 5-0 in the bottom of the second, before a single by junior
Brynn Charnesky (Scottdale, Pa. / Southmoreland) and a Bethany error combined to allow senior
Madie Cicero (Willowick, Ohio / Eastlake North) to score Waynesburg's (26-16) lone run of the contest.
Bethany responded with three in the third and one final score in the fourth to bring about the final score.
Cicero walked and singled to lead the Jacket offense.
Three different Yellow Jackets took to the circle on the day, including freshman
Emily Pratt (Bedford, Pa. / Bedford), who didn't allow an earned run over her 1.2 innings of work.
