Michael Impellittiere

Michael Impellittiere was hired as Waynesburg University’s head baseball coach in August 2024.

Impellittiere spent the previous seven seasons as the head coach of Hood College (Md.) where he was the Blazers’ winningest coach in program history with a 129-112-1 record and was awarded the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019.

Impellittiere led Hood to 32 wins and an appearance the MAC Commonwealth championship game in his first season. His Blazers claimed the top overall seed as MAC Commonwealth regular season co-champions the following year in 2019. Hood received votes in the D3baseball.com top 25 poll in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The Blazers’ 2018 squad started the season with 14 consecutive wins, finished second in the nation with 152 stolen bases and ranked in top 12 nationally in on-base percentage and walks. 

Hood began the 2020 season with an 8-3 record before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the year. The Blazers made two more conference tournament appearances under Impellittiere’s watch in 2021 and 2024. This past season the Blazers won 23 games and reached the MAC Commonwealth semifinals.

Impellittiere’s players received a myriad of individual honors during his tenure. He recruited and developed one College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, four D3baseball all-region selections, two Rawlings all-region picks, two MAC Commonwealth Pitchers of the Year, 10 All-MAC Commonwealth First Team honorees and 16 additional second team or honorable mention all-conference players. Under Impellittiere, the team received the America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for achieving a team GPA above 3.00 six times. 

Prior to becoming Hood’s head baseball coach, Impellittiere served as a graduate assistant coach for the program in 2016 and 2017. Before arriving at Hood, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz. He served as SUNY-New Paltz’s recruiting coordinator and infield coach and recruited two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Freshmen of the Year and one SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year. 

Impellittiere was the head coach of the Front Royal Cardinals (Va.) in the Valley Baseball League, one of the top collegiate summer baseball leagues, in 2021. His squad comprised of players from Division I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO and lead the league in hits, doubles, total bases and double plays turned.

Impellittiere was an NCAA Division III baseball player at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., and was a contributor on three Freedom Conference championship teams from 2011-13, including a 39-win squad in 2013. The Cougars won multiple games at the NCAA regionals in 2011 and 2013.

Impellittiere is a member of the ABCA and has attended the annual NCAA baseball coaches convention since 2014. He received a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Misericordia in 2013 and Master of Business Administration from Hood in 2018.
