Timothy Nielsen joined the athletic department as an Esports Graduate Assistant in August 2024.
As the coach of the Overwatch team, Nielsen led Waynesburg to a 25-3 record in the regular season and a 7-3 playoff record, winning the NECC Division IX East conference title and the NECC Division IX National Championship.
As a player, Nielsen captained his Waldorf University Overwatch team all three years he competed. He took his team to two conference finals, one in 2021 and the other in 2024. Additionally, in 2021 he led his Overwatch team to a first-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational in Waterloo, IA, and a second-place finish at the NECC Hometown Series in Davenport, IA. In 2023 Waldorf finished 20th at the 2023 Division I Collegiate National Tournament.
Nielsen graduated from Waldorf University with a Bachelor of Arts in Operations Management and Banking & Finance in 2024. He is currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in data analytics and visualization at Waynesburg.
