Waynesburg University Athletics

After two years as a student assistant and two more as a graduate assistant with Waynesburg, Alex Smith heads into his third season as an assistant coach. He will spend most of his time interacting with the Yellow Jacket defensive line.

Smith played for the Jackets his freshman and sophomore seasons before injuries cut his playing career short. 

Smith is a native of Peters Township and a 2009 graduate of Peters Township High School. He lettered three times with the Indians, was a team captain and won the Iron Man Award.

Smith is employed as a teacher by the Southeastern Greene School District. He completed his undergraduate degree in secondary education history at Waynesburg in the spring of 2013 and a master's degree in special education in the spring of 2015.
