Dave Sarra

Dave Sarra, who spent 15 years on the coaching staff at Waynesburg Central High School, enters his first season coaching the Yellow Jacket defensive line in 2007.

In seven seasons as head coach of the Raiders, Sarra compiled a 45-26 record with four playoff appearances and a conference title. In his first year as head coach, Waynesburg Central finished as runner-up in the WPIAL Class AA Playoffs, losing to Aliquippa, 14-6, in the championship game.

Prior to serving as head coach at Waynesburg Central, Sarra worked as defensive coordinator for the Raiders. In 1999, he coached a defense that helped lead the Raiders to the WPIAL Class AA Playoff Championship, defeating Washington, 30-3.

Sarra has served as a teacher in the Central Greene School District for 15 years and now teaches biology at Waynesburg Central.

A native of Monessen, Pa., he graduated from California University (Pa.) in 1990 with a degree in Biology. Sarra earned his Secondary Education/Biology certification from Cal (Pa.) in 1992.

Prior to college, Sarra was a three-sport athlete at Monessen High School, playing football, basketball and baseball. He was an all-conference player for the Greyhounds on the gridiron, playing guard, defensive end and kicker.

Sarra and his wife, Suzanne, reside in Waynesburg with their three children, Dante, Dominick and Nina.
