Frank Cortazzo

Frank Cortazzo joined the Waynesburg University football coaching staff  after most recently serving a brief tenure as special teams coordinator at East Allegheny. He spent the 2022 season as the defensive coordinator at West Mifflin High School and helped lead the Titans to the WPIAL Class 3A postseason.
 
Cortazzo’s time at West Mifflin was preceded by him serving as head football coach at South Allegheny High School in 2020, which saw the Gladiators post a 5-2 record. It was just the 11th winning season in the school’s 50-plus-year history. He also led SA to the playoffs in 2021, which was its first trip to the postseason since 2013 and the fifth in program history.
 
Prior to his time as head coach, Cortazzo served as defensive coordinator for the Gladiators from 2017 to 2020.
 
He also served as DC at Franklin Regional High School from 2012 to 2017 and made his first varsity stop at South Allegheny from 2004 to 2006 as its defensive coordinator.
 
Cortazzo’s lengthy resume includes stints as members of football, track & field and wrestling coaching staffs at levels ranging from youth, to middle school to varsity.
 
He graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and has been employed as a teacher for more than 20 years.
