Jared Plisko, a former all-conference fullback at Waynesburg, enters his third year as the Yellow Jackets’ running backs coach.
For the past three seasons, Plisko has coached a dynamic pair of running backs in Ryan Abels and Eric Daniels, who combined to rush for 6,504 yards and 73 touchdowns. In 2005, Abels earned first-team all-conference honors after setting the single-season school record with 1,299 yards, which ranked 14th in the nation, and 10 touchdowns. Abels finished his career as the program’s all-time leading rushing (3,985 yards) and rushing touchdown leader (43 touchdowns).
A 2005 graduate of Waynesburg, Plisko was a four-year letterman and starter for the Yellow Jackets. During his playing career, Waynesburg won its first outright conference championships in 2003. He served as the lead blocker for both Abels and Daniels, who combined for 1,707 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns, throughout the championship season.
That season, Plisko was a first-team all-conference selection at h-back/tight end and earned the Wiley Award, which is given to the player that most personifies Yellow Jacket football through character, leadership, citizenship and accountability.
As a junior in 2002, Plisko led Waynesburg in rushing and grabbed a career-best 32 receptions to earn honorable mention from the conference. He ranks among the school leaders in career receptions with 73 catches.
Plisko, a native of Hibbs, Pa., earned all-conference and all-county honors while playing for Albert Gallatin High School.
