Joshua Francis

Joshua Francis joined the Waynesburg University football coaching staff prior to the 2021 season. Francis works primarily with the Yellow Jacket linebackers and boasts an impressive resume of playing and coaching experiences.

Francis came to Waynesburg from fellow Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) member Geneva, where he spent the 2020-21 season. He served as the defensive line/pass rush coordinator for the Golden Tornadoes.

Prior to working the sidelines, Francis played at the highest level as a member of the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers during the 2015 season. His pro career then took him north of the border to Calgary for a season with the Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Prior to his professional career, Francis enjoyed plenty of success at the NCAA Division I level with West Virginia University. His time with the Mountaineers, which lasted from 2011 to 2014, was highlighted by being named honorable mention All-Big 12. He also led the Blue and Gold in sacks and tackles for loss in 2012. He graduated from WVU with a degree in Sociology/Anthropology.

Before going to Morgantown, Francis spent two years at Lackawanna College (2008-10) and shined for the Falcons. He was named a 2010 NJCAA first team All-American.

A native of Damascus, Maryland, and a 2008 graduate of Damascus High School, Francis is married to his wife, Melinda Francis. They are the proud parents of Lilielle, Joshua, Jr., Elijah and Isaac.
