Tanner Kolb

Tanner Kolb enters his fourth school year as the Waynesburg’s head of strength of conditioning He will continue to work with all 18 of the Jacket sports in both the weight room and in conditioning.

A native of the North Hills, Kolb graduated from Grove City High School, where he participated in football, wrestling and track and field before earning a degree in sports and exercise science from Messiah College, where he was also a member of the wrestling team. Following his undergrad work, Kolb attended Oklahoma State University and earned a masters degree in applied exercise physiology education.

After finishing his education, Kolb worked for two years in the state of Michigan. While in the Wolverine State, Kolb spent time at Petoskey, Pelston and Charlevoux high schools.

Kolb also has experience as a USA weight lifting club coach and is USA Track and Field Level 1-certified as a coach.

Along with his own impressive list of credentials, Kolb’s father, Jon, played offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1969 to 1981. After winning four Super Bowl rings with the Steelers, the elder Kolb also competed in multiple NFL Strong Man Contests and World’s Strongest Man Contests.

Kolb noted that going to training camp and being around the Steelers was where he first gained an interest in working in the strength and conditioning field.

This year, Kolb also begins his first season as an offensive line coach with the Yellow Jacket football team.

Kolb currently resides in the Waynesburg area with his wife Katie and their son Lincoln.
