Tom Shulsky enters his first year as Waynesburg’s tight ends coach. In addition to tight ends, he will work with the Yellow Jacket kickers and punters.
Shulsky brings over 30 years of high school coaching experience to the position. He served as assistant coach at his high school alma mater - Beth-Center High School in Fredericktown, Pa. - for the past 19 years. While with the Bulldogs, Shulsky worked with the offensive line, defensive line and special teams. He helped coach Beth-Center to several WPIAL Class AA playoff appearances.
Prior to his work with the Bulldogs, Shulsky coached over a dozen years at Trinity High School in Washington, Pa. He started working with the Hillers in 1975 and was a member of the coaching staff in 1986 when Trinity made the WPIAL Class AAA Playoffs.
While at Trinity, he coached Kevin Holley, who was a four-year letterman at Division I Purdue University from 1983-86. Holley still ranks among the Boilermakers’ all-time leaders in both career sacks and tackles for loss.
Shulsky earned his technical education degree from California (Pa.) in 1974, completing his degree in three years. He has since served as teacher at Trinity, teaching architecture, drafting and design.
He was a two-sport athlete at Beth-Center, playing baseball and football. On the football field, he started along both the offensive and defensive lines.
He and his wife, Mary, have two sons, Tom Jr., and Todd, an offensive lineman on the Yellow Jacket football team.
