Zach Sterling is no stranger to Waynesburg University or the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and is looking to bring that experience with him as he works with the Yellow Jacket running backs and tight ends.
Â
Sterling comes to town after spending two years as a graduate assistant at Bethany College. He was able to balance his classwork with his responsibilities as the team’s offensive line coach.
Â
Prior to arriving in Bethany, Sterling spent a year as a student assistant (offensive line) at his alma mater, SUNY Brockport. He moved to the sidelines from the field after four years as an offensive lineman with the Golden Eagles.
Â
Ironically, he was a member of the Brockport State team that defeated Waynesburg in the 2013 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Bowl. Sterling’s decorated collegiate career also included four varsity letters and twice being listed as a member of the D3Football.com Team of the Week.
Â
He graduated from Brockport in 2015 with bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Sports Management. He added his master’s degree in education from Bethany in 2017.
Â
Sterling came to SUNY Brockport after a decorated four years at Connetquot High School. The native of Ronkonkoma, New York, was a first-team all-division honoree, as well as a first-team Sufflolk County All-Star. He was also a member of the 2009 Long Island Championship-winning team.
