Ben Altmeyer

Former Yellow Jacket guard Ben Altmeyer is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Waynesburg men's basketball team. 
 
Altmeyer's coaching duties include recruiting, directing film exchange with opponents and individual player development. He is a 2012 graduate of Waynesburg University, was a former All-PAC point guard, receiving honorable mention accolades after the 2009-10 season.
 
The Pittsburgh native started all 24 games he appeared in that season.He averaged 8.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game in his first year with the Jackets. He led the team in assists, field goal and free throw makes that season.
 
Injuries slowed Altmeyer down after his rookie campaign, as he missed all of 2010-11 before returning in 2011-12. Perhaps his best performance as a player came during his final season with the Orange and Black, when the Jackets pulled off a road upset over rival Washington and Jefferson. Altmeyer tallied a game-high 25 points, including a six-for-eight effort from behind the three-point arc in a 69-57 victory over the Presidents.
 
For his career, Altmeyer appeared in 39 games, 35 of which were starts. He finished his Waynesburg career by shooting 44 percent from the field and tallying 39 three-point field goals during that span.
 
A 2008 graduate of Shaler High School, Altmeyer spent one year as an assistant coach at his alma mater before returning to Waynesburg.
