Korey Mitchum

Korey Mitchum joined the Waynesburg men’s basketball coaching staff as its graduate assistant in 2025.
 
Mitchum first arrived on campus prior to the 2023-24 season as a first-year transfer student from Garrett College. Over the next two seasons, he started 26 of the 51 games in which he appeared, including starting all 25 games as a senior. During his second season in Orange and Black, Mitchum led the team in assists and finished third in steals, while also averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds.
 
Mitchum spent two years at Garrett prior to arriving at Waynesburg and started all 31 games of the 2022-23 season. Before earning his spot as a regular starter for the Lakers, Mitchum was part of the 2018-19 Allegany College of Maryland team that qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament. He appeared in all 26 games that season for the Trojans.
 
He was also an All-AMAC performer at Southern Garrett High School in Oakland, Maryland.
 
Mitchum graduated from Waynesburg with his undergraduate degree in Sports Management and added his MBA from Waynesburg in 2025.
