Jasmine Jenkins brings a wealth of high caliber playing experience with her to Waynesburg as the Yellow Jacket women’s basketball team’s graduate assistant coach.
Jenkins was a highly recruited guard out of Gainesville, Georgia, where she was a star player for East Hall High School. She was named one of the nation’s top 100 recruits by ESPN HoopGurlz after earning four all-area selections and was thrice lauded as team MVP. She was also selected to participate in the American Family Insurance Three-Point Contest.
Jenkins moved on to Vanderbilt University and saw extensive varsity minutes in all four years with the Commodores. She started 41 of the 119 games in which she appeared and scored a personal collegiate-best 24 points on nine-of-12 shooting against Mississippi Valley State as a senior. That same year, she finished third on the squad in assists and fifth in steals per game.
Jenkins was also a standout in the classroom. She earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll following the 2015-16 season and graduated with her degree in Human and Organizational Development with a focus in Leadership Effectiveness.
Following her playing days, Jenkins spent a season as the assistant coach at Brenau University, an NAIA school in Gainesville, Georgia. She spent this past winter working the bench at Lanier High School near Sugar Hill, Georgia.
