Matt Pioch joined the women's basketball coaching staff after spending the 2018-19 season as a volunteer assistant with the Yellow Jackets. Pioch has been extremely involved in Waynesburg Resident Life the past few years, serving as the Resident Director of Thayer Hall for the past three years and Director of Housing for the past two years.
Prior to his arrival at Waynesburg, Pioch graduated from Lakeland College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Ministry in 2012 before going on to obtain his Master of Arts degree in Religion at Olivet Nazarene University in 2015. Pioch also played one season of basketball at Lakeland before injuries ended his playing career.
Pioch graduated from Mundelein High School in Mundelein, Illinois, in 2008. He was part of a team that won a regional championship in IHSA 4A basketball in 2007. The school also renamed its Hard Work Award to the Matt Pioch Award after he won it two consecutive years.
