Patience Baker

Prior to the 2023-24 season, Patience Baker returned to the Waynesburg University women’s basketball program as its assistant coach. Baker’s first stint with the Yellow Jackets came in 2013, when she began her two-year run as a graduate assistant.

After graduating with her master’s degree in Education from Waynesburg in 2015, Baker became an assistant coach at fellow Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) member Geneva the following year. She was thrust into her first collegiate head coaching job in 2017 as the Golden Tornadoes’ interim head coach. Her title was changed to associate head coach in 2018.

The next step in Baker’s coaching career took her to the high school game, where she served as assistant coach at Canon-McMillan High School from 2019 to 2021. Once again, she was asked to make a speedy jump into a head coaching role and was named interim leader of the Big Mac program in 2022.

Prior to her first stop in Waynesburg, Baker graduated from Fort Valley (Ga.) State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. She transferred to FVSU after beginning her collegiate playing career at South Carolina State University 2007.

Baker is a 2007 graduate of Columbus (Ga.) High School and was honored as a second-team all-state player for the Blue Devils.

She is married to her husband Robert and the two are the proud parents of daughter Selah.
