Chay Lahew

Chay Lahew enters his first season as head coach of the Waynesburg golf program in 2007. However, he is no stranger to the Yellow Jacket athletic program and winning in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Lahew was a three-year starter for the Waynesburg football team and received first-team all-conference honors as a senior during the 1998 season. He returned to the Yellow Jacket athletic program in 2001 as the offensive line coach for the football team. After coaching the offensive line for five seasons, Lahew served as offensive coordinator during the 2006 football season.

During his time at Waynesburg, both as a student and as a coach, Lahew has experienced a conference championship. In his final season as a player, he was a member of the Yellow Jacket football team that earned a tri-split of the PAC Championship. In 2003, he helped guide Waynesburg to its first-ever outright PAC title and NCAA Playoff appearance. In a combined 11 years with the Yellow Jacket football team as a player and coach, Lahew has enjoyed eight winning seasons, highlighted by nine wins in 2003.

After earning his degree in Elementary Education from Waynesburg in 1999, he was hired as a math teacher for the Cornell Abraxas Leadership Program in Maryland. While teaching in his home state of Maryland, Lahew also coached the offensive line at a local high school.

Lahew, a native of Smithsburg, Md., graduated from Smithsburg High School and currently resides in Waynesburg with his wife, Michelle.
