Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets

Megan Sowers

  • Title
    Asst. Coach
After forging a standout athletic resume as a Yellow Jacket, Megan Sowers has returned to help lead the latest group of Waynesburg track & field athletes for the 2020-21 season.

Sowers was a star thrower with the Jackets, who specialized in the javelin from 2010 to 2014. Over that time, she collected three Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) titles and was a four-time all-PAC selection. She qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships during all four of her collegiate seasons. After earning provisional national qualifier status in the javelin during her freshman campaign, Sowers made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division III National Championships as a sophomore and a junior. The native of Lone-Pine, Pennsylvania, reached the podium after placing fourth at the 2012 event.

Sowers also earned all-conference laurels in the shotput and spent a year with the Waynesburg women’s basketball team.

Sowers’ affinity for being a multi-sport athlete began before her time at Waynesburg. She not only stood out in track & field at Beth-Center High School, but also competed in basketball and soccer. Sowers was named 2010 Washington Observer-Reporter Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

She is currently employed by The Efficiency Network, an independent energy services company, as a business support operations associate.
