Dr. Dave Mariner began his collegiate coaching career prior to the 2019-20 school year. He sports a wealth of experience on the course, as he works with both the Waynesburg University men’s and women’s golfers.

Dr. Mariner has been an avid golfer for well over 20 years and has competed in a myriad of tournament and club championships in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio and currently sports a 1.7 handicap.
Â
While his time with the Yellow Jackets is his first foray into collegiate coaching, it’s far from his debut in an athletic leadership role. Dr. Mariner spent five years as an assistant football coach at Waynesburg Central High School and was part of the staff that led the Raiders to the 1999 WPIAL title and the 2000 silver medal. He is a current member of the Peters Township Girls Softball Board of Directors and has coached at multiple levels of the organization.
Â
Dr. Mariner is also far from a stranger to Waynesburg University, where he is employed as Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. He has more than 20 years of experience working in higher education administration where his responsibilities have included program management, new program development, faculty development and supervision, advising, enrollment management, retention, budgeting, operational management, accreditation and marketing. He has also taught Statistical Methods part-time in the Master of Business Administration program. Dr. Mariner's career at Waynesburg University began in the Office of Admissions in 1999.
Â
In addition, Dr. Mariner is active in the community where he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He serves as the Chairman of the Southpointe CEO Association where he served on the Board of Directors from 2008 through 2018 when the association merged with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a proud graduate of Leadership Washington County and serves on the Overlook Homeowners Association Board of Directors.
Â
Dr. Mariner graduated from Westminster College with a BS in Chemistry and 1997. He followed that up by earning his MBA from Waynesburg University in 1998 and added his Ph.D. in Educational Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University in 2015.
Â
Following a standout football and baseball playing career at Waynesburg Central, from which he graduated in 1993, Dr. Mariner was a member of the Westminster football team from 1993 to 1996. He was a three-year letterman and part of the 1993 NAIA Division II national runner-up team and 1994 NAIA Division II national championship squad.
