Mark Konopka

Mark Konopka brings a quarter-century of college coaching experience with him to Waynesburg, where he will oversee the Yellow Jacket offensive line. He will also serve as the team’s strength coordinator.
 
Konopka joins the Yellow Jackets after spending the previous three seasons at NAIA Central Methodist in Missouri, where he served as the Eagle’s offensive line coach. Prior to that, he further built his resume at NAIA member Madonna in Michigan, NCAA Division II programs West Liberty and West Virginia State and NCAA Division III member Hendrix in Arkansas.
 
Over his lengthy time on the sidelines, Konopka has built up experience working primarily with offensive linemen and tight ends, while also becoming well versed in strength training.
 
Konopka spent two years in the late 90s playing in the Arena Football League for the Florida Bobcats and Iowa Barnstormers.
 
Konopka was a standout on the offensive line and crafted a decorated playing career at Iowa State. He was a four-year starter for the Cyclones from 1992 to 1995 and was an honorable mention All-Big 8 Conference pick. He graduated from Ames with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science. 
 
Konopka is a native of Sterling Heights, Mich., and graduated from Warren High School in 1991.
