After crafting one of the most decorated playing careers in Waynesburg softball, Sydney Wilson returned to the program as its pitching coach prior to the 2026 season.
Wilson joined the team in 2022 and was named first-team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference as well as the PAC Newcomer of the Year and PAC Pitcher of the Year. She led the conference in ERA, opposing batting average, wins and starts, while also ranking second in the conference innings pitched and strikes. She added PAC Pitcher of the Year again after her sophomore season of 2023. That same spring, she earned first-team All-PAC applause, All-ECAC status and was named second-team all-region by the NFCA. She was also named PAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after powering the Jackets to their second-straight tournament crown. Wilson logged her third first-team All-PAC nod in 2024 in guiding Waynesburg back to the conference championship game for a third-straight season, before being a named second-team all-conference as a senior.
Wilson ended her playing career as Waynesburg's all-time leader in wins, career ERA and strikeouts and was honored as PAC Pitcher of the Week seven times. She was also a standout in the classroom, and was lauded as a two-time member of the PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll. Her final honor came when she represented Waynesburg as its female representative at the PAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet.
Prior to coming to Waynesburg, Wilson was a star at Clay-Battelle High School in West Virginia. She was a second-team all-state selection, a first-team all-conference pick, the OVAC 2A Player of the Year and a three-time letter winner. She was also a member of the Cee Bee basketball and volleyball teams.
