Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets

Zach Stevens

Zach Stevens joined Waynesburg as an assistant men’s basketball coach and equipment manager for athletics in May 2025.

Stevens brings eight seasons of collegiate coaching experience to the Yellow Jacket bench in 2025-26. He spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. The Prairie Wolves went 20-7 and finished as the American Rivers Conference runner-up in the regular season standings and were ARC Tournament finalists.

With Stevens on staff, NWC had three players receive all-conference applause, including Jack Groeteke, the ARC Defensive Player of the Year. Nebraska Wesleyan led the ARC and ranked top-20 nationally in scoring defense, field goal percentage defense and three-point percentage defense this past season.

Prior to his time with Prairie Wolves, Stevens coached at Gordon College (Mass.), Regis College (Mass.), and Plymouth State University (N.H.).

During his two-year stint at Regis, the Pride achieved their first winning season in eight years and first Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament win in team history in 2022. The following year Regis notched 14 wins, the second-most in program history, and returned to the GNAC Tournament.

Stevens began his coaching career at Plymouth State where he was an assistant for four seasons. While with the Panthers, Stevens recruited four eventual 1,000-point scorers. In the 2019-20 campaign, Plymouth State went 16-11 and reached the Little East Conference Tournament semifinals for the first time in 15 years.

Stevens played collegiately for two seasons at NHTI where he was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national three-point contest winner in 2013 and set the Lynx's program record with nine made three-pointers in a single game. Stevens went on to play three seasons at Plymouth State.

Stevens graduated from Plymouth State in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Regis in 2023.
