FROSTBURG, Md. (Sept. 18) – The Yellow Jackets (2-5) swept doubles play and took three of six singles matches on their way to a 6-3 win over Frostburg State (1-6) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Waynesburg sweep of doubles play was its first of the season. Sophomore Allie Horochak and Jess Mally teamed up for a 9-7 win at second doubles over Caroline Shedd and Liz Coblentz. Junior Evelyn Fabian and freshman Britni Green tallied an 8-6 win over FSU's Kim Hardy and Sharis Erwin at the third slot. The doubles team of junior Laura Garcia and freshman Blakeley Mall finished off the Yellow Jacket sweep at the first position with an 8-2 win over the Bobcats' Sarah Eisel and Vicky Stafford.

“It was probably our best doubles play of the season with strong play from all three teams,” said 10th-year head coach Ron Christman. “The second doubles team of Horochak and Mally really set the tone for the match when they came back from 3-7 down to win six-straight games for the 9-7 win.”

Mall scored a win for the Yellow Jackets at second singles, claiming a 6-2, 6-0 victory by winning 11-straight games over Shedd. Fabian tallied a 6-2, 6-1 win at the sixth slot over FSU's Erwin. Davis registered her first career singles victory, winning by a 6-2, 7-5 margin at the fifth position over Hardy.

Waynesburg continues non-conference play on Thursday, Sept. 20, with a 3 p.m. match at Penn State-Altoona.
