LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 31) – It was a rough night for the Waynesburg men's basketball team as they fell at Saint Vincent by the final score of 106-73 on Saturday.
The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 6-13 overall, while Saint Vincent improves to 16-3.
Waynesburg never recovered after falling behind 45-31 at halftime, and were out-scored 61-42 in the second half.
Junior guard Ryan Courneen led the Jackets in scoring with 12 points on the night. Senior guard Zack Engel and sophomore forward Jeff Young added 11 and 10 points, respectively in the loss.
The Bearcats were led by senior guard Joey Butler, who came a rebound away from a triple-double as he poured in 21 points, dished out a team-record 16 assists and yanked down nine rebounds. All three totals were game highs.
The Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 4, when they host Thomas More. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
