Hunter's 20 points not enough as Jackets lose 65-53 at Adrian tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. (Nov. 21) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team ended their two-day run at the Adrian Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.

 

Unfortunately, the Jackets left Michigan with an 0-2 record after falling to Otterbein by the final of 65-53 in the consolation game of the event. The Cardinals went 1-1 on the trip.

 

Otterbein opened up a 38-27 lead at halftime, but Waynesburg rebounded with a solid second half to keep the contest within reach. The Cardinals' big advantage in the paint (45 rebounds to 29) went a long way towards their victory.

 

Sophomore point guard Hannah Hunter had a superb night for the Jackets, as she piled up a game-high 20 points on six-of-eight shooting from the field and seven-of-eight shooting from the free throw line. Hunter also dished out a team-best four assists and swiped a game-high five assists.

 

Otterbein countered with a balanced offensive attack that featured three double-digit scorers and three more players with at least eight points. Forward Allison Huettel picked up a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

 

Waynesburg will take another shot at their first win of the season on Nov. 30, when they travel to McKeesport to take on Penn State-Greater Allegheny. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
