WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Apr. 11) – The Waynesburg baseball team earned a two-game split on Saturday when they hosted Saint Vincent College at Madison Field.

After the Bearcats took game one by the final of 6-3, the Yellow Jackets bounced back with an offensive explosion in game two to win 14-7. Waynesburg is now 13-12 on the year, while Saint Vincent is 3-23.

In game one, the Jackets bounced back after falling behind 3-0, to tie the game at 3-3 after three innings of play. However, the Bearcats picked up two runs in the top of the fourth and one more in the top of the sixth to bring up the final score of 6-3.

Freshman Chris Ditmar suffered the loss for the Jackets, but pitched well as he gave up just three earned runs in six innings of work on six hits and no walks. He added four strikeouts to the winning effort. Saint Vincent's Jeremy Mains got the win.

In game two, the Jackets' bats heated up in a big way as they posted eight runs in the first and added six runs in the third.

Waynesburg third baseman Pat Logan belted a three-run homer in the first and added a double in the fifth. Centerfielder Rob Cool Jr went two-for-three with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and catcher Brendan Scioscia led the team with three hits, all singles.

Jesse Gonzalez got the pitching win for the Yellow Jackets after working five shutout innings of two-hit baseball.

Waynesburg returns to action on Monday, Apr. 13, when they face Pitt-Greensburg at Consol Energy Park in Washington. The Yellow Jackets will honor any U.S. military personnel in attendance at the game.
