NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Feb. 23) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team fought tooth and nail with Westminster during the two schools' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoff game on Tuesday night.

After the Titans led for the majority of the contest, the Jackets were able to take a slim lead in the second half. However, Westminster was able to rebound and hold on to pick up a 55-51 victory and advance in the PAC tournament.

The loss gives Waynesburg a season-ending record of 9-17, while Westminster heads onto the next round with a record of 12-14.

The Jackets opened the scoring on a free throw by sophomore point guard Hannah Hunter. The home team responded with four points of their own to take a 4-1 lead. Westminster didn't relinquish the advantage for the remainder of the first half. When the buzzer went off on the first period, Waynesburg found itself behind 21-19.

Both teams found their offense in the second half, while the Jackets were able to take a one-point lead (39-38) with as little as 6:39 to go in the contest. However, Westminster bounced back and retook the lead on a jumper by Amy Dolsak. The Titans swelled that lead to as high as six (49-43) with 3:40 showing on the clock.

The Jackets were able to trim the deficit down to 52-50 with 1:29 remaining, but they were unable to get any closer as the Titans sealed the game on a Lynn Riley free throw.

Waynesburg suffered the loss despite a trio of double-digit scorers. Freshman Brittany Spencer led the attack with a game-high 15 points and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Junior forward Elisha Jones added 12 points, while playing all 40 minutes. She added seven rebounds and three blocks to her evening. Hunter chipped in 11 points and a team-best four assists.

Dolsak led the Titans with 12 points. Westminster held a major advantage on the boards, out-rebounding their opponents 55 to 37. One thing that can not be blamed for Waynesburg's loss was turnovers, as the Jackets turned the ball over just seven times, while Westminster coughed it up on 18 occasions.
