Men's tennis battles, but falls at Frostburg State

Yellow Jackets win three of six singles matches in 6-3 loss

FROSTBURG, Md. (April 15) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team fell in a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Frostburg State on Thursday by the final score of 6-3.

 

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped to 4-4 on the season, while the Bobcats improved to 9-6.

 

All three of the Yellow Jackets' wins came in singles play. Senior Jeff Canning worked hard in his 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 victory at number-two singles against Ramon Gutierrez, while junior Emile Khoury needed just two sets to down Eddie McMurtrie 6-2, 7-6 (3) at third singles. The Jackets got their only other win of the match when sophomore Jon Anderson downed Tyler Forster 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) in a thrilling match at sixth singles.

 

The Jackets are scheduled to return to PAC play on April 19 when they square off with PAC powerhouse Grove City in Waynesburg's season finale.
