Baseball suffers heart-breaking loss at Geneva

Golden Tornadoes come back to down Jackets 6-5

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (April 23) – The Waynesburg University baseball team led throughout most of their nine-inning contest at Geneva on Friday afternoon.

 

Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets couldn't close out the Golden Tornadoes, as they came out on the wrong end of a 6-5 contest. With the loss, the Jackets fell to 12-17 on the season, while Geneva improved to 14-17 on the year.

 

Waynesburg led 5-1 going into the seventh inning, but Geneva cut the advantage to one run (5-4) heading into the ninth. The Tornadoes scored the final two runs of the contest in the bottom of the last inning to pull out the win.

 

Senior second baseman #Wes White, Jr#, sophomore third baseman Corey Goeggelman and sophomore outfielder Kenny Grant collected two hits each. White scored a pair of runs in the loss.

 

The same two teams are scheduled to take part in a seven-inning doubleheader on Tuesday, April 27, in Waynesburg. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
