Waynesburg tennis cruises to win over Thiel

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 21) - Thiel arrived at Waynesburg on a high note coming off of a 9-0 conference win over Washington & Jefferson yesterday. Waynesburg had been sitting for a week because of rainouts. It didn't take long for the Jackets to shake off the rust however as all three doubles teams jumped on Thiel to take a 3-0 lead while giving up just two games. The dominance continued in the singles as Waynesburg won five of the six matches.

The highlight matches didn't come at the top of the lineup however. David Floyd stepped in at third doubles and sixth singles as an “emergency recruit” because of injuries to two Jackets. Floyd will fill those positions through the rest of the dual match season and the tournament. Floyd received support from his fan base of friends and his new teammates as he held on to win his singles match 6-1, 7-5 after teaming with Nate Huffman to win his first collegiate doubles match by the score of 8-1.
