GROVE CITY, Pa. (April 28) – The Waynesburg University baseball team late inning rally fell a run short, as they lost to Grove City 6-5 in a nine-inning, Presidents Athletic Conference game.

With the loss, the Jackets fell to 12-20 on the season, while the Wolverines improved to 17-13 on the year.

Grove City led 5-0 going into the eighth inning, but Waynesburg fought back, scoring two runs in the top of the eight. The Jackets scored three more to bring the score to 6-5 in the top of the ninth, but a weak pop fly to the pitcher with two outs ended the threat, leaving the tying run stranded at second.

Senior shortstop Anthony DeFilippo, junior catcher Brendan Scioscia and junior designated hitter Nick Berdine collected two hits each. Berdine drove in a pair of runs in the loss.

The Jackets will look to get back on track when they host Washington and Jefferson on Friday. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
