WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 19) – Keeping the memories of a historic season alive, the 1966 NAIA national champion Waynesburg University football team will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame early next month.

With a perfect 11-0 record, the 1966 squad defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater, 42-21, to capture the school's first and only national championship. Also during that season, the Touchdown Club of Washington, D.C. named Waynesburg the top small college team in the nation.

Dr. Rich Dahar, a member of the '66 team, broke the NAIA Champion Bowl rushing record during the national championship game, rushing for a total of 233 yards. He was later named First Team All-America. Dahar sits sixth all time on the career rushing list, racking up 2,320 career yards.

“It's a great feeling to be inducted, I'm very excited about it,” said Dahar. “There is a core group of guys that still keep up with it. Whenever we get together we tell stories from that year and the memories keep coming back.”

The ceremony will be held Friday, June 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Double Tree in Washington, Pa.
