WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 8) – Due to rising flood water in the Susquehanna River, Wilkes University, Waynesburg's football opponent for Saturday, Sept. 10, has made the decision to evacuate its campus immediately. This turn of events has caused Saturday's football game, which was to be held at John F. Wiley Stadium, to be cancelled with no makeup date expected.
Waynesburg University's scheduled Sept. 11 tribute activities, which were to be held throughout Saturday's game, have also been cancelled. However, those local individuals that were to be honored as part of those activities are invited to the University's 9/11 Memorial Service, which will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in Alumni Hall.
The Yellow Jackets (0-1) are next scheduled to be in action on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they host Thiel to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
